The McLennan Community College Dance Company clinched their first National Championship title at the National Dance Alliance Collegiate Championships held in 2001
MCC competed against 24 of the nation's top Division II colleges and universities, receiving a score of 9.41 on a 10-point scale. In Finals, the team also scored higher than all 22 Division I colleges, as well as 22 out of 23 teams in Division IA. Brigham Young, the Division IA Champions, won the Grand Champion title with a score of 9.70
Sandy Hinton, MCC Dance Company Director, said
she has been striving to reach this milestone for more than
25 years.
"This has been my lifelong dream", Hinton said. "The
young people on this team are very special. Not only are they
all strong dancers, but they are hard-working students who have
combined GPA of 3.24. I am extremely proud of their academic
and athletics accomplishments."
