The Houston Chronicle named her the No. 2 junior college prospect in the state in 1990.
After graduating from MCC, Trochim moved on to Texas A&M, where she played for two years and captured numerous other awards and accolades. She worked as a student coach at A&M for one year and received her bachelor's degree in recreation parks and tourism science in 1994. In 2001, she received her master’s in education from Tarleton State University.
