Highlassie Softball Head Coach - Manuel Ordones

In 2007, Manuel Ordones led the Highlassie softball team to its first national tournament appearance in program history.

Ordones became head softball coach in 2003 after spending two years as assistant baseball coach.

Before joining the MCC staff, Ordones was the head baseball coach at Connally High School for 18 years. During his tenure at Connally, Ordones led the Cadets to four district titles and 10 playoff appearances and compiled a career record of 270-112. He was District 8-3A Coach of the Year in 1999 and was selected that same year to coach the North All-Star team for classes 1A, 2A and 3A. The Waco Tribune-Herald also named Ordones the Super Centex Baseball Coach of the Year in 1986 and ’89.

Ordones played for the 1978 Baylor University baseball team that won a regional championship and advanced to the NCAA College World Series. He earned a bachelor’s degree in education from Baylor in 1982 and completed his master’s in education from Tarleton State University in 2005.

Ordones and his wife, Gilda, have two children: Genee, a junior at the University of Texas, and Matthew, a sophomore at Midway High School.
