Board of Trustees - Bob Sheehy, District 5, Waco

Employment: LaVega High School Teacher
Why I became an MCC Trustee: I feel like I have grown up here. My dad was a charter board member. I came to the campus every Sunday to watch the campus being built. My kids were growing up and I felt it was an obligation to get involved and see that MCC stays a quality institution for my kids and their friends.
What I like most about being an MCC board member: I want the chance to have an impact on the community and continue MCC’s legacy of providing educational services to the city and county. People don’t realize how much of an impact we have on this county. I wonder what the community would be like without MCC … without all of our graduates who work for the hospitals here. One third of high school students in the area come to MCC.
How my experience with MCC has affected my life: One of my greatest experiences was when we dedicated the new library. My dad and I both got a chance to be there. When I was a student here, I remember every building that I went into had my dad’s name on it.
