Board of Trustees - Don Hay, District 2, Waco

Don Hay, District 2

Employment: Retired Human Resources Administrator

Why I became an MCC Trustee: I had been a board member at Connally ISD for 15 years when I read that there was an opening for a board member at MCC. I was familiar with MCC, because everyone in my family had attended the school, and I was impressed with the institution as a whole. It has one of the prettiest campuses I've ever seen.

What I like most about being an MCC board member: I think what I like most about being a board member is the association that I have with a quality group of people (that's everyone at MCC) and a quality institution.

MCC benefits the community by: MCC provides a high quality, economic educational source for students pursuing higher education. The tuition is an unbelievable bargain, and the education is always up-to-date and improving. As technology in various educational fields change, the College rises to meet the new demands.

How my experience with MCC has affected my life: I have gained a greater knowledge of how the college system works and how MCC works in particular. Everyone in my family, including my dog, has taken courses at MCC. Besides taking numerous continuing education courses, I also taught several courses before I got on the board. Being a board member has enabled me to be more informed about the College, and now I'm better able to answer questions that the public may have about the College. I have met people with misconceptions about the school and have had the opportunity to share the facts and help show them why MCC has an absolutely excellent reputation with the county.
