Frequently Asked Rental Questions
- What is the rental fee? The normal base rental fee is $500 for a 4-hour minimum. If the event requires more than 4 hours, an additional fee will be necessary.
- Are there additional fees? Yes. Additional fees are normally required to pay appropriate support staff. This could include, sound system ($300-$500), technical assistant ($150-$250), and security ($160 - $240) .These fees will be determined after the attached form is completed.
- When are fees due? Normally one-half of the rental fee is due upon contract signing and the balance is due one week prior to the event. The facility may not be opened until all fees are paid.
- May food be served? MCC reserves the sole and exclusive right to offer for sale food and soft drinks. For small events the user, with permission, may be able to provide their own food and drink.
- May alcohol be served? Alcohol service requires Presidential approval. Alcohol service requires the organization to have a certificate for Host Liquor. Events that include selling liquor require the organization to obtain a certificate of liquor liability in the amount of $1,000,000. Additional security will also be necessary.
- Is there a box office? Yes, there is a box office on site at the BRS. The BRS box office can provide reserved seat ticketing at a nominal cost.
- May churches or religious organizations use the BRS? Yes, but only for one-time events. Such organizations may not use the BRS for on-going services or meetings.
- What about publicity? Normally each renter is responsible for their own publicity. The college will want to have event information in case inquiries are received on campus. Under no circumstances may publicity commence until a contract is signed and executed with deposit funds in hand.
- What about inclement weather? The BRS is an outdoor venue and subject to occasional inclement weather. In case the event must be cancelled because of inclement weather, one-half of the total fee may be refunded. On rare occasions an indoor facility may be booked as an inclement weather backup, however, additional fees must be charged for the indoor facility and availability is quite limited because of the college’s instructional program.
- What about the sound system? The BRS sound system is a state-of-the-art sound system capable of handling most any professional musical event including a full house and separate monitor system, if needed.
- How far in advance may I book an event? The college has first priority on booking the facility and attempts to book college-sponsored events as far in advance as possible. Specific dates are normally blocked out one year in advance and will be reserved primarily for college-sponsored events.
