  Teaches application of basic coding rules, principles, guidelines, and conventions.   Covers advanced coding techniques with emphasis on case studies, health records, and federal regulations regarding prospective payment systems and methods of reimbursement. Introduces the Common Procedure Coding system and provides practice in CPT coding using actual patient records and computer application. Prerequisites: HITT 1441 with a grade of C or better.
