The ensemble maintains a high level of performance excellence while providing service to the community, MCC music majors, and Central Texas band programs through its annual offerings of symposium concerts, school tours, student conductor concerts, and in-rehearsal school visits. The Percussion
Ensemble |

. . . focuses on many aspects of percussion. The group has performed traditional literature as well as World percussion pieces featuring African, Afro-Cuban, Latin, Japanese Kodo, Drum set, and Stomp style trash can pieces. The group performs several times a semester. Students with no experience are welcomed as long as they sign up for private percussion lessons. |

The Pep
Band

. . . provides music and spirit at home MCC basketball games. Participation is by audition and is open to players of the following: trumpet, trombone, electric bass, and drumset. |

. . . is an auditioned group of high school players from the Central Texas area and presents at least two performances each season. Since its inception in 1995, over 400 students representing more than 25 area high schools have participated in WAYWE. The mission of the group is to provide dedicated young musicians a venue to experience the finest literature in the wind repertoire while building musical skills and knowledge, community involvement, and aesthetic appreciation. WAYWE is sponsored by McLennan Community College as school outreach and community service.

. . . was founded in 1981 and is an active extension of MCC’s musical leadership in the Central Texas area. The band consists of amateur and professional musicians who rehearse and perform as many as ten concerts each season. Besides bringing high-quality concert performances to the Waco area, the group sponsors the annual Highland Music Festival for area bands and choirs. The WCB is also active in community-sponsored events such as the Race for the Cure, summer music presentations, Veteran’s Day services, memorial services, and July 4 celebrations.
