Community Programs Highlights and Happenings
Especially for Senior Adults...

According to the American Heart Association, almost 80% of cardiac arrests occur at home and are witnessed by a family member. Only 6.4% of sudden cardiac arrest victims survive because those witnessing the arrest don’t know how to perform CPR. CPR can double a victim’s chance of survival until more advanced care is available.
Join instructor Janie Walker for a combined CPR/First Aid course designed for those 55+year of age to learn how to handle an emergency. This age group frequently cares for an aging parent or grandchildren and could suddenly be called on to handle a life/death situation. This age group may also be thrust into a situation with a spouse or peer who suffers a medical emergency.
This informative, hands-on course will certify you in CPR and basic first aid. Along with the training, helpful hints on making your home safer will be shared.
The spring 2008 course will be held February 5th and February 7th (Tuesday and Thursday) from 8:30 AM-12:30 PM. Upon completion of the course, participants who attend all eight hours of the training will receive a Heartsaver-First Aid card.
