Cosmetology Program

At MCC, classroom theory and laboratory practice is complemented with hands-on training. Students start with the fundamentals in theory and practice before learning more advanced techniques. Then they use that knowledge in real-world situations while performing services for community members.

Students recieve training in:

  • hair cutting, coloring, permanents and styling
  • makeup aplication
  • manicure and pedicure techniques
  • skin care and facial practices
  • salon development

MCC's facilities are equipped to give students the well-rounded education needed in today’s world. Training labs provide hands-on experience in hairstyling, makeup application and facials. Students also use a computer lab for interactive learning and exam preparation.

After about 1,500 hours of training over 13 months, students receive a certificate of completion and are eligible to take the operator’s licensing exam administered by the State Board of Cosmetology. MCC boasts one of the highest exam pass rates in the state.
