A Gala Adventure Awaits, Mateys

"X" marks the spot on the calendar for Saturday, March 3, 2007, when treasure awaits at the MCC Foundation Hearts in the Arts Gala and performance of "The Pirates of Penzance." The MCC Foundation will band together with McLennan Opera and McLennan Theatre to bring you a delightful performance of this internationally popular operetta at the Ball Performing Arts Center, a cocktail/dinner buffet at the treasure of a home of Claude and Becky Lindsey, and a Pieces of Eight dessert reception with cast and crew to follow the show.

Foundation Launches New Slogan, Campaign
A new advertising message from the MCC Foundation: "How will you be Remembered?" is reaching the community in the latest issues of the Wacoan and Waco Today magazines. The ads feature notable local graduates and supporters whose testimonials convey the enduring impact of a gift to the MCC Foundation. The Remembered theme also figures prominently in a new Foundation brochure due out in early spring 2007.

First Generation Initiative Receives New $123,000 Grant
2005-2006 Grant Year: The first full semester is drawing to a close for the initial cohort of the First Generation College Student Initiative, and the Foundation staff is pleased that the students are doing well with their studies and benefiting from the program. The FGCSI marketing campaign is in full swing, and program coordinator Mito Espinoza reports that
through October, the program had reached out to more than 2,500 people in the Waco area through presentations to students, counselors, parents, and community members. Espinoza receives 5-10 inquiries per week about the program, which promotes the importance of college to the community’s first-generation families.
