Meet our Executive Director...
Harry I. Harelik, BBA, MPA, CPA, CFRE
Harry Harelik is a native Wacoan who graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a BBA in accounting in 1971 and an MPA in taxation in 1972. In addition to being a self-employed CPA, he worked for Peat, Marwick, and Mitchell CPAs in Dallas, was a partner with Parrish, Greenstein, Moody and Harelik CPAs in Waco, and more recently senior partner of Harelik and Fields CPAs in Waco. Harelik and Fields merged into Jaynes, Reitmeier, Boyd and Therrell CPAs in 2002, and Harelik now has worked full time as the Executive Director of the McLennan Community College Foundation for eight years while consulting part-time for JRBT. He earned his CFRE (Certified Fund Raising Executive) certification in 2006.
He is a life board member of Keep Waco Beautiful, where for over 30 years he has worked in numerous city and county beautification projects. He currently works as an administrative committee member of the United Way, and is on the board of the Greater Waco Interfaith Conference, Congregation Agudath Jacob and the Waco Symphony Association. He is immediate past President of the Waco Chapter of American Fundraising Professionals, President-elect of the Central Texas Chapter of Certified Public Accountants and a member of the steering committee for the Mayor's Committee on Education as well as the Cameron Park Anniversary Committee. He has served as president of: The Jewish Federation of Waco, Congregation Agudath Jacob, Downtown Waco, Inc., the Waco Foundation, the Better Business Bureau and the Center for Learning and Development. He has also served on the boards of WISD Partners in Education, the WISD Alumni Association, Art Center Waco, Avance Waco, the Jewish Community School of Central Texas, and Greater Waco Chamber of Commerce and, as well, has served on the Junior League Advisory Committee, the Leadership Waco alumni committee and the City of Woodway Planning and Zoning Commission.
In addition to public speaking and writing a guest column for the Waco Tribune-Herald, he is a member of the Texas Society of CPAs (political representative liaison), the American Institute of CPAs, the Council for Resource Development and the Texas Association of Community College Foundations (treasurer). He has three children: Alyssa (35), Jarrod (33) and Joshua (30).
