MCC Scholarship Night to feature District Judge, MCC Alum Vicki Menard

In the mid-1980s, Vicki Menard was much like many MCC students: attending classes at night and juggling her college courses with her responsibilities to her husband and children. A few semesters later, she continued her college career at Baylor University and then Baylor Law School. In 2005, after a notable law career in Waco, she made history as McLennan County's first female district judge when the governor appointed her to fill an unexpired term at the 414th District Court. A year later, she was elected to a four-year term on the bench, where she handles a large load of civil and family law cases.

You can hear Judge Menard's remarkable story as she offers the keynote address at the annual MCC Foundation Scholarship Night at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 11 at the MCC Conference Center. Scholarship Night is the annual event when the MCC Foundation applauds the hundreds of students who have received MCC scholarships for the year, as well as the donors who make those scholarships possible. This year, the Foundation will welcome at least 13 new endowed scholarship donors into the MCC President's Circle.

A dessert reception will follow the program, and all MCC faculty and staff are encouraged to attend. Invitations will be mailed by Aug. 20th for this special event.
