Meet our Alumni Relations Coordinator...
Kim Patterson, APR
Kim Patterson heads the Highlander Alumni Association, a division of the McLennan Community College Foundation. She joined the MCC Foundation staff in 2006 to support donor outreach, communications and special events efforts. Prior to that, she worked for seven years as the college's Director of Community Relations and Marketing. She has been with MCC since 1995.
Originally from the northeast United States, Kim's family immigrated to Texas when she was seven ("immigrated" because it's like a whole other country!) She attended Baylor University and graduated with honors, majoring in journalism and marketing. She worked eight years in public relations at Brazos Electric Cooperative and earned her accreditation from the Public Relations Society of America. She has authored one book, "Currents of the Brazos: a 50-year History of Brazos Electric Power Cooperative" (Nortex Press, 1991.) She is a Dale Carnegie graduate and has provided voice-over talent for Paul Meyer motivational materials and radio advertising on WBAP in Dallas. She has served as president of the Central Texas Chapter of PRSA, where she continues to serve on the board, and Lake Brazos Rotary Club. She is a Rotary Paul Harris Fellow and currently serves as a board member for Northwest Waco Rotary Club.
Her civic involvement also includes serving as President-Elect of the Waco Chapter of National Charity League, Inc., Leadership Waco, Art Center Waco Board, St. Louis Catholic School Board, Reicher Catholic High School Marketing Committee, Downtown Waco, Inc. and the Greater Waco Chamber of Commerce. She has also volunteered for the Susan B. Komen Foundation, Public Broadcasting, National Public Radio, Habitat for Humanity, Gospel Café, Friends for Life, Dr. Pepper Museum, Compassion Ministries, Family Abuse Center and Meals on Wheels. She is married and has two teenage children, and her hobbies include being married and having two teenage children.
