French Department

Mission
The French Department provides beginning and intermediate courses in reading, writing, listening, and speaking standard French. Our faculty and staff embrace the MCC open admissions policy and the related concept that no prior language study is required for success in first-semester beginning French (FREN 1411). Students with previous knowledge of French may be eligible to begin at a higher level. French courses focus on the following goals:
- FREN 1411 & 1412: Academically oriented listening, speaking, reading and writing at an elementary level of French proficiency.
- FREN 2311 & 2312: Academically oriented listening, speaking, reading and writing at an intermediate level of French proficiency.
