Associate Degree Nursing Admission Criteria

Admission criteria are subject to change. It is the student's responsibility to remain current with admission requirements. Applications are ranked by using the point system below. For applicants with 15 hours or more from the A.D.N. curriculum, GPA will be determined in those specific courses only, not counting the elective.

Admission criteria are subject to change. Applications are ranked by using the point system below.

  1. Grade Point Average – GPA x 10

    2. GPA is calculated using support courses in the A.D.N. curriculum, excluding the humanities elective.

  2. Grade of "A" in Required Sciences on First Attempt:
    3. First Science (One of the following: BIOL 1408, BIOL 2404, CHEM 1405, or CHEM 1411) 1 point
    BIOL 2401 1 point
    BIOL 2402 1 point
  3. Residence
    4. - (Furnishing false information to the college with intent to deceive may result in admission denial or program dismissal).
    McLennan County 1 point
  4. Health Career Certification
    5. Licensed Vocational Nurse 3 points
    Other Health Career Certification 1 point
    Tech-Prep Program (An official program) 1 point

A copy of health career certifications must be included with application or in the A.D.N. office BEFORE deadline date. Applicants must submit a letter from employer validating at least 6 months of work experience within the past year.
