Associate Degree Nursing Application Process
Applicants must be admitted to the college before they can be considered for admission to the ADN Program.
- Submit an ADN program application and checklist to the ADN Office.
- Persons who have attended college elsewhere must submit an additional copy (unofficial) of all college transcripts to ADN Office along with their application.
- Submit updated transcripts to the ADN program director as additional courses are completed. Failure to submit updated transcripts may cause an applicant to be considered ineligible for the program.
- NET scores must be taken at MCC.
- Submit documentation of current Health Career certification to ADN department attached to the application prior to deadline date. A letter from an employer validating at least 6 months work experience within the past year must be included. Points will not be added after deadline date.
- Submit Immunization Records validating that the first Hepatitis B immunization has been given. All require immunizations must be given by start of clinical rotations.
- All applicants will be notified by regular mail regarding program acceptance approximately 30 days after the deadline date.
NOTE: Associate Degree Nursing Program applications will not be accepted or considered complete until ALL of the above steps are completed.
Application Requirements
Minimum requirements for application to MCC ADN Program:
- Completion of at least 15 semester hours from A.D.N. curriculum (exclusive of elective) with at least a 2.8 GPA.
- Nurse Entrance Test (NET) scores on
- Reading Comprehensive Score that meets or exceeds the National Average
- Essential Math Skills Score that meets or exceeds the National Average
- Written Expression Score that meets or exceeds the National Average
Meeting the criteria does not guarantee admission to the program. Typically, applicants must exceed the minimum requirements to be accepted.
Applicants are admitted to the program based on the ranking of their application (see Admission Criteria) until the enrollment limit has been reached. In case of ties, GPA will be used as the tiebreaker.
Transfer Student Application
The ADN program provides opportunity for transfer students to be admitted to the program.
Nursing courses that are 5 years old will not be accepted.
The student must meet general admission requirements of the college and the ADN program. Copies of all transcripts and course description and/or course syllabus of nursing course must be submitted for transcript evaluation. To be eligible for transfer, a student must meet the minimum requirements for entry into the program; including Nurse Entrance Test (NET) with reading comprehension, essential math skills, and written expression that meets or exceeds the National Average; and a GPA of 2.8. Priority will be given based on GPA of courses in the ADN curriculum and nursing GPA at previous nursing school attended.
Transfer students who are on probation at their previous school may not be considered. Placement in nursing courses will be dependent upon transcript evaluation, space available and recommendation of the Admissions Committee.

- Submit letters of reference from previous nursing school Dean, Director or Instructor indicating good standing or reason why you are not eligible to return.
- NET scores must be taken at MCC.

International Student Admission Requirements for Nursing Programs
International students must meet the general admission requirements of McLennan Community College. International admission requirements are applied to all students who have international secondary or post-secondary educational credentials, regardless of country of citizenship, immigrant status, or visa status. Each high school and college attended must be listed on the application for admission. Official transcripts for each high school and college attended must be attached to the application. Official records must be provided from each institution attended in the original language and, when that is not English, accompanied by a certified translation into English. Unofficial records that do not bear the original signature of the institution's representative cannot be used. Records must be signed by the registrar, dean, or headmaster of the institution issuing the documents. Photocopies will be accepted if they bear the institution's original seal and the original signature of the school official certifying the documents. Transcripts and other records attested as certified by a notary public or solicitor (non-institutional official) will not be accepted as official.
English proficiency is met with the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL).
A minimum Internet-based TOEFL score of 100, or a computer-based test score of 250, or a paper/pencil test score of 600 is required for admission. TOEFL results are only valid up to two years from the testing date. Scores will not be considered if they are more than two years old. Test score reports must be sent directly to the nursing program director from the testing center.
Applicants may be exempt from the TOEFL requirement if they have completed a U.S. high school diploma, having attended all four years of high school in the U.S.
