Mission Statement
Humans are social animals who interact, and Sociology is the scientific study of this human interaction. It's an exciting process of discovery with many practical implications, and in these courses we uncover and explore:
- how we create meaning and understanding through the ways we connect with others through symbols
- why we set up social institutions and the functions (and dysfunctions) of those institutions, and
- social inequalities in society, and how we might correct them
