GENERAL POSITION DESCRIPTION

Instruct students in computer information systems courses. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to: student advising, recruitment, maintaining office hours, participating in college committees, promoting and supporting student extra-curricular activities, participating in professional development, participating in the faculty evaluation program, working across departments to develop student communication, computation, and problem-solving skills, teaching evening classes; teaching weekends, off-campus, possible two-way interactive and/or distance learning courses. This position reports to the Computer Information Systems Program Director and exercises no supervision.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Education: A Bachelor's degree in computer science or information systems from an accredited college or university required, Master's degree with 18 graduate hours in computer science or information systems from an accredited college or university preferred.
Experience: Minimum of three years of business or industry work experience in computer science or computer information systems.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience: Recent teaching experience to include distance education and post-secondary teaching experience. Current work experience in at least two of the following areas preferred: MS Windows, CISCO, programming, security, networking, PC hardware, computer graphics and/or web design. Professional and/or industry certification in CISCO (CCNA); MS MCSE; Novell CNE; CompTIA A+, N+, S+, and/or Project+; and/or Linux is desired.

SELECTION CRITERIA

Ability to: (6) teach at the post-secondary level; (7) use technology in support of instruction; (8) evaluate student performance;
(9) promote and support related extra-curricular activities; (10) establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work; (11) communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Sustained posture or intense attentiveness for prolonged periods. Light lifting (less than 30 lbs), some walking, pushing and pulling on a regular basis. Work environment: Minimal hazard/exposure: Standard office setting. At least minimal environmental controls to assure health and comfort.
