GENERAL POSITION DESCRIPTION
Instruct courses in business math, word processing, computer education and office technology. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to: student advising, recruitment, maintaining office hours, participating in college committees, promoting and supporting student extra-curricular activities, participating in professional development, participating in the faculty evaluation program, working across departments to develop student communication, computation, and problem-solving skills, teaching evening classes; possibly teaching weekends, off-campus, two-way interactive and/or distance learning courses. This position reports to the Office Technology Program Director and exercises no supervision.
NOTE: This is a security sensitive position and an appropriate background investigation will be made on applicants being strongly considered for this position.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Education: A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in business education, computer education, administrative systems or secretarial education.
Experience: Minimum of three years of business or industry work experience in computer-related positions or secretarial work. Preferred: work in business math, word processing (Office 2007 particularly) and other Office 2007 applications. Post-secondary teaching experience preferred.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Master's degree in business education, computer education, business math, office administration or a closely related field.
Experience: Major course work in computer education, office administration, administrative assistant or a closely related field.
SELECTION CRITERIA

Knowledge of: (1) subject matter; (2) training (previous and current); (3) curriculum development; (4) trends of office technology, word processing and business math as they relate to the work world; (5) trends in teaching/learning theory as they apply to office technology, word processing and business math; Ability to: (6) teach at the post -secondary level; (7) use technology in support of instruction; (8) evaluate student performance; (9) promote and support related extra-curricular activities; (10) establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work; (11) communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Desk work; occasional field trips e.g. for college or program activities. Insignificant effort other than normal movement. Minimal Hazard/Exposure: Standard office setting. At least minimal environmental controls to assure health and comfort. Work hours include some evenings and weekends.
