INSTRUCTOR, ASSOCIATE DEGREE NURSING (TENURE ELIGIBLE)

GENERAL POSITION DESCRIPTION

Participate in team teaching of nursing theory and clinical practice in an integrated career-ladder curriculum. Plan, supervise and evaluate student clinical experience in assigned health care facilities. Responsible for didactic and clinical instruction. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to: student advising, maintaining office hours, participating in college committees, promoting and supporting extra-curricular activities, participating in professional development, and working across departments to develop student communication, computation, and problem-solving skills, will include evening classes; may include weekend, off-campus, and television courses; must be able to travel to clinical facilities and teach evening courses. This position reports to the Program Director for Associate Degree Nursing and exercises no supervision.

NOTE: This is a security sensitive position and an appropriate background investigation will be made on applicants being strongly considered for this position.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Education: Bachelor's and Master's Degree in Nursing required. If Master's degree in a field other than nursing, a minimum of six semester hours of graduate level content in Nursing is required.
Experience: Have demonstrated clinical competence as a generalist in nursing for three years. Experience in psychiatric and medical-surgical nursing preferred. Previous teaching in Associate Degree Nursing preferred.
Special requirements: Must be licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in Texas

SELECTION CRITERIA

WORKING CONDITIONS

Physical effort-Restricted: Sustained posture or intense attentiveness for prolonged periods. Light lifting (less than 30 lbs.), some walking, pushing, pulling on a regular basis. Work environment-Minimal hazard/exposure: Standard office setting. At least minimal environmental controls to assure health and comfort.
