GENERAL POSITION DESCRIPTION

Position Contingent Upon Budget Approval

Teach health information technology didactic classes and coordinate clinical assignments in a two-year associate in applied science HIT curriculum. Plan, supervise, and evaluate student clinical experiences in assigned health care facilities. Responsible for didactic instruction and clinical assignments for coding and medical transcription curricula. Must be able to travel to clinical affiliates. The two-year HIT program prepares competent health information technicians to work in hospital medical records departments and other health agencies' records departments. Position reports to the Program Director, Health Sciences, and exercises no supervision.

NOTE: This is a security sensitive position and an appropriate background investigation will be made on applicants being strongly considered for this position.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Education: Bachelor's degree.
Experience: Recent work experience within the profession. A commitment to the community college philosophy and to cooperate across departments to help develop student communication, computation, and problem solving skills is expected.
Special Requirements: RHIT or RHIA certification required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Master's degree preferred
Experience: Previous teaching experience & supervisory skills preferred.

SELECTION CRITERIA

WORKING CONDITIONS

Physical effort-restricted: Sustained posture or intense attentiveness for prolonged periods. Light lifting (less than 30 lbs.), some walking, pushing, and pulling on a regular basis. Work environment-Minimal hazard/exposure: Standard office setting. At least minimal environmental controls to assure health and comfort.
