GENERAL POSITION DESCRIPTION

To recruit and provide assistance to potential students for the college's academic, technical, and vocational programs; to increase awareness of the college in the community and service area. The Admission Specialist reports to the Director of Admissions & Recruitment and exercises no supervision.

Note: This is a security sensitive position and an appropriate background investigation will be made on applicants being strongly considered for this position.
Note: Must have and maintain a valid Texas Driver's License and be insurable under the College's driver's insurance policy and maintain insurability.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Education: A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in education, public relations, business administration, guidance and counseling, or a closely related field.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience: One year of responsible experience in counseling and student marketing programs.

SELECTION CRITERIA

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
(1) methods and techniques of educational program marketing; (2) techniques of student recruitment program development and evaluation; (3) methods and techniques of student advising; (4) principles of effective public relations; (5) effectively recruit students for college academic, technical, and vocational programs; (6) identify and implement new recruitment and marketing strategies and contacts; (7) prepare, analyze, and implement appropriate recommendations related to college recruitment activities; (8) evaluate and advise students on a variety of academic matters; (9) communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; (10) establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work;(11) interpret and apply college policies, procedures, rules and regulations; (12) prepare and deliver oral presentation.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Restricted: Regular field trips. Sustained posture or intense attentiveness for prolonged periods. Light lifting (less than 30 lbs.), some walking, pushing, pulling, on a regular basis. Minimal Hazard/Exposure: Standard office setting. At least minimal environmental controls to assure health and comfort. Work hours include evenings and weekends.
