Part-Time Student Book Scholarships
Applications for MCC Foundation's part-time student book scholarship are due by March 1 for summer scholarship awards. Details and the application are available at http://www.mclennan.edu/departments/foundation/schol.html. Students awarded a scholarship, which is up to $500, will be required to take a two-hour financial literacy course (if they have not already taken the course), which will be offered on either April 20 or 21 at 7 p.m. in the Michaelis Academic Center.
Annual MCC Foundation Hearts in the Arts Scholarship Gala

The annual MCC Foundation scholarship fundraiser will be held Saturday, March 27. The evening includes a delectable dinner at the beautiful lake view home of Dave and Valerie Fallas, followed by a theatre production of "Oh, What A Night!" which is a montage of dance, song and music from all areas of the Visual and Performing Arts Division (including some surprises!) along with an art show and sale. The evening will be capped off with a decadent dessert reception with cast and crew. All proceeds benefit student scholarships and needs at McLennan Community College. Tickets are $65 per person. In addition, a $2,800 diamond necklace from Kindler’s Gem Jewelers will be raffled. Tickets for the raffle are $30 each or two for $50 and are on sale NOW at the Foundation. For more information, contact the MCC Foundation office at 299-8677 or rdeleon@mclennan.edu.
Last Call for Highlander Legacy Plaza Pavers
The fourth batch order for Highlander Legacy Pavers is almost complete and ready to be submitted. Anyone wanting to purchase a paver, $100 for a small paver or $250 for a large one, should complete the form and submit it to the MCC Foundation office as soon as possible to be included in this order. Monthly payroll withholding is available for payment. Highlander Legacy Plaza is immediately next to the Michaelis Academic Center, and the plaza is the only facility allowing community/campus names on the main part of campus. The pavers are an excellent way not only to show support for McLennan Community College but also to remember and honor a person, family or business. Information about the plaza may be obtained from Harry Harelik at hharelik@mclennan.edu.
The MCC Foundation's All-Steinway Initiative

The McLennan Community College Foundation board of trustees voted in December 2009 to pursue a campaign to raise money not only for 27 new pianos for the MCC campus, but also to provide dollars for an endowed maintenance fund to maintain the new pianos. An inventory of the Visual and Performing Arts Division at MCC revealed that of 31 pianos on campus, all 26-40 years old, only four were in reasonably good condition. The rest were in poor condition, some unusable, and were therefore unable to support the teaching of music at MCC or to accommodate the many annual state piano competitions that MCC hosts.

The All-Steinway initiative will make McLennan Community College only the third college in Texas to be an All-Steinway school (of two- AND four-year colleges) and only the third community college in the entire country! New Steinway pianos are already making a difference in the performances of MCC students, and it is expected that the pianos will not only assist in attracting more and better music students, but they will also be attractive to new faculty who see a very positive commitment to high quality at MCC.
