Currently a doctoral student at the University of Texas at Austin School of Nursing and am conducting research in a qualitative study assessing Parent and Adolescent Knowledge of Genetic Testing and performing data analysis for a longitudinal quantitative study on Developing Health Behaviors in Middle Adolescents, both under the direction of Dr. Lynn Rew (PI), Denton & Louise Cooley and Family Centennial Professor in Nursing.

Scholarly interest in Adolescent Health with a focus on the environmental predictors of pediatric overweight and the psychosocial outcomes experienced by children and adolescents due to being overweight.

Development of critical thinking in nursing students through participation in nursing simulation lab activities
Development of health promotion strategies and educational programs that will prevent or reduce the global weight epidemic
