  • THOMAS Legislative Information: Search Bill Summary and Status
    Use this search if you know the congress session in which the bill was introduced or passed. If not, choose to "Search Multiple Congresses".

  • THOMAS Legislative Information: Multiple, Congresses
    If you know the bill number, select "Bill Number" from the drop box under "Enter Search." If you do not know the bill number, select "Word/Phrase" or see this guide's section on locating the bill number for a piece of legislation. Enter the name of the act or bill in "quotation marks".

    Depending on your search method, you may get many search results in which you have to select the matching legislation. You may also get one search result for the exact bill. When you reach the bill summary page, you will see the full title of the bill, the sponsor and date of introduction, and the latest action on the bill. You will also be given links to more information regarding the legislation: Text of Legislation, CRS Summary, Cosponsors, Committees, Congressional Actions, and Cost Estimates.

  • Search for performance assessment of Governmental Programs using the ExpectMore site provided by the Office of Management and Budget. You must know the general topic or name of the program. Entering the name of a bill or act will not retrieve any results.

  • Executive Orders Index (Federal Register)
    Executive orders are official documents, numbered consecutively, through which the President of the United States manages the operations of the Federal Government.
