Book scholarships available for part-time students

Individuals who plan to be part-time students at McLennan Community College during the spring or summer 2010 terms may now apply for scholarships to pay up to $500 for books per semester. Scholarship applications are due by Nov. 30.
To be eligible, individuals must meet the following criteria (based on the semester for which you are applying):
• be a part-time student enrolled in a minimum of six and a maximum of 11 credit hours at MCC
• be enrolled in a degree or certificate program
• have a grade point average of at least 2.5
• demonstrate financial need
Scholarship recipients will be required to attend a financial literacy class before the funds will be credited to their account at the MCC Bookstore.
Applications for the book scholarship, which is the only source of scholarship funds for part-time students at the college, are available at www.mclennan.edu/departments/foundation/schol.html. Hard copies of the application must be turned in to the MCC Financial Aid Office by 6 p.m. on Nov. 30.
