Library presents exhibit on McLennan County founder

October 30, 2009

McLennan Community College's library will display an exhibit titled "McLennans in Peace and War," which features McLennan County founder Neill McLennan and some of his local descendants. The display runs through November.

Featured in the exhibit is an 18th-century wooden plane used by Neill McLennan to build the schooner that transported his family from Florida to Texas in 1836. The plane is on loan from his descendant, Sally McLennan Truhlar, who also has items from her military service in the Air Force on display. The exhibit includes many military stories and items from other family members, as well.

The MCC library is open to the public Monday-Thursday 7:30 a.m.-10 p.m., Fridays 8 a.m.-5 p.m., Saturdays 9 a.m.-3 p.m., and Sundays 3-9 p.m. The library is located on the top floor of the Learning Technology Center on MCC's campus.
