Partnership with H-E-B and Texan by Nature to Plant Trees for Texans
McLennan Community College has been awarded a $5,000 H-E-B Trees for Texans “For Communities” grant to support native tree-planting efforts in McLennan County. To help Texans cultivate a deeper connection to nature and encourage environmental stewardship, MCC will host a native tree-planting event with H-E-B Partners and community volunteers on Thursday, Oct. 29, at 1 p.m., at the Bosque River Stage on the MCC campus.
“H-E-B Trees for Texans is an investment in the future of Texas,” said Anahi Villarruel, Project Manager at H-E-B Environmental Affairs. “By partnering with local organizations and community volunteers, we're planting native trees that enrich the places Texans call home, support local wildlife, improve air quality, and help create healthier communities across the state.”
Native trees provide valuable environmental benefits, including cleaner air, improved water quality, wildlife habitat, shade, and cooling. Through Trees for Texans, H-E-B collaborates with local organizations to plant native trees that help create healthier, more resilient communities.
In addition to their environmental benefits, trees create opportunities for outdoor learning, volunteer engagement, and community connection while enhancing the quality of life for Texans across the state.
