Staff PD Day - Breakout Sessions

What is my blood pressure and why is it important? What are the signs of a heart attack and what can I do about it? What happens to me when I become short of breath and what can I do about it? How much radiation is too much? Why does my back hurt? Which tests/screenings do I and my family need as we age? What do the results of my blood test mean and what can I do to make my numbers better? Why do I need to get a Pap Smear or a PSA? These are a few of the questions that will be addressed in this interactive presentation given by an interdisciplinary team of allied health care providers and nurses. Participants will have their blood pressure taken and understand their health indicators better in order to prevent disease and/or manage their health condition.

This session will provide information on how to access and submit surveys via MCC campus email. Participants will get a chance to take 'mock' surveys. Information will also be provided on how to make survey requests.

The Family Education Rights & Privacy Act (aka: FERPA) affects almost every aspect of a student's records and interaction at the college. The presenter will give an overview of FERPA including recent changes in the law as well as how FERPA applies to the administration and functioning of the college.

This session will include an overview of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator. Participants will be able to tentatively identify their preferences and understand how the different temperaments interact in relationships, including work environments.

This session will provide a demonstration of Datatel screen (UIFC - User Field Customization) which allows users to set tabs on screen fields. This can greatly speed up data entry by allowing users to skip seldom used fields but still access the skipped fields as needed.

Individuals and organizations are experiencing tremendous changes in strategies, in the way work gets done, and in the way people work together. These changes present new demands and challenges for every individual in the organization. Without personal strategies for dealing productively with change, people can become overwhelmed and communication can break down.
This session provides an approach to navigating change—an approach that people in any organization can use effectively. Participants explore skills that help them deal with change both individually and interpersonally, and they develop strategies to deal effectively with a change that's difficult for them.

This session is for those who are new to Zumba to give them a taste of the hottest cardio-craze sweeping across Waco.
The Zumba workout mixes body scupling movements with dance steps derived from Latin and International music. The routines feature aerobic interval training with a combination of fast and slow rhythms. It targets areas such as the glutes, legs, arms, abdominals and heart.
