Let Sue Allen, Registered Veterinary Technician, teach you common sense approaches to treating illness and recognizing injury in your horse. In this course you learn to detect early signs and symptoms of various illnesses and how to take care of your horse until the vet arrives. Sue will teach you different techniques and applications so you can competently medicate and care for your horses after the vet is gone. This class is a must for all equine owners.

Thinking of buying a horse, getting back into horses, or just need to learn more about your horse? In this course we will cover the basics of nutrition, worming and vaccination, stable care, choosing a horse, and proper handling. This course will help answer all the questions you have about buying a horse and horse ownership. This is a hands-on course where each participant will be working with a horse.

The Certified Horsemanship Association awards certification as an instructor of riding theory and application. Course participants will be evaluated on their ability to teach group riding lessons. The evaluation categories are safety, horsemanship, teaching techniques, group control, and professionalism. For all the pleasure riders out there here is an opportunity for you to perfect your skills. We will spend two evening sessions to working with you and your horse over trail obstacles both in the arena and out on the Highlander Ranch. The final Saturday we will meet at C-Bar Stables in Valley Mills (www.cbarstables.com). This is a beautiful 1000-acre ranch with some of the most spectacular trails found in Central Texas. Load up those saddlebags and we will picnic under a big oak tree. Space will be limited so register early.

Goat meat comprises over 60 percent of the meat consumed in the world today. Proper nutrition, control of parasites, and avoidance on infectious disease is paramount to the profitability in a meat goat herd. This seminar will explore the different aspects of nutrition of meat goats, controversies in worming for internal parasites, and infectious diseases that commonly affect the meat goat, and how to prevent them.

This is an introductory course for solving practical problems using sustained agriculture techniques related to managing native pastures and rangelands. Topics include rangeland ecology, stocking rates, rotations, brush control, and vegetation improvement. Course information also includes which grasses work best in our Central Texas area for cattle, goats, and horses.

Tired of Rover putting you through your paces? Learn how to gain control of your dog using basic commands. You will also learn how to "untrain" your dog“s bad habits. Bring Rover and socialize with other owners and pets. This course will provide you with the proper training collar and leash to accomplish your goals.
