High School Students
Do you want to get a jump start on college course work? MCC can help you prepare for college in many ways - and the best thing about it is that all of our options will save you TIME and MONEY! Don't let your junior and senior years slip away - get on the ball and take some classes at MCC.
- Concurrent Enrollment Classes This is an opportunity to take college level-courses and receive high school credit at the same time. You could do this by taking the classes at your high school, on MCC's campus or even over a two-way interactive classroom system. Ask your high school counselor about what you can do to enroll in this program.
- Early Admission Classes This program allows you to enroll in college-level courses while you are still in high school (you do not receive high school credit for these courses). Most students take advantage of this program by taking summer school classes, minimester classes or evening classes.
- Tech Prep Program You can receive college credit at MCC for specific courses taken during your freshman through senior year of high school through Tech Prep. You could receive up to 12 semester hours of credit if you enroll and complete an equal number of hours toward an approved Tech Prep degree at MCC. Ask your high school counselor for more information about Tech Prep at MCC.
- Credit by Articulation This program is similar to the Tech Prep program in that it allows you to receive college credit at MCC for specific courses taken in high school. But in Credit by Articulation, the courses must be taken during your junior or senior year and you do not have to specify a career path to gain credit. Talk with your high school counselor to find out what courses you could articulate through MCC.
- C.L.E.P. Tests McLennan Community College offers C.L.E.P. (College Level Examination Program) Tests on campus in the Testing Center. You may take C.L.E.P. Tests in many areas (including physics, business, economics, government and spanish) and if you receive passing scores, you may receive college credit in that area. Talk with your high school counselor for more details.
