Application Instructions
for a college workstudy job at McLennan Community College

This year, 2007-2008, McLennan Community College is beginning a NEW College Work-study application process called College Works by Web. This will make it faster and easier to apply for jobs because it is on the WEB!

If you are interested in applying for a College Work Study position, PRINT this page and just follow these easy step-by-step instructions:

  1. Go to the College Works by Web link.
  2. Select Student Sign up Now – You will enter your personal information. For Financial Aid purposes, do NOT use nicknames and please complete each line.
  3. You will be prompted to Specify Your Skills and Experience - Please be detail oriented, as if you are submitting a resume. This is your employment application.
  4. Select Done after you have entered all of your information.
  5. You are registered and now have the option of viewing the posted positions.
  6. The Financial Aid office will review registered students on a weekly basis. Once Financial Aid has reviewed your account and updated your status to eligible, you must apply for the specific position(s) that you are interested in by clicking on the icon located at the bottom of the job description. You may select up to 3.
  7. Your application will automatically be forwarded to the department supervisor. You will be contacted directly by the department if they wish to schedule an interview.
  8. If you are selected by the department to fill the position, a criminal background investigation will be conducted. If the investigation yields satisfactory results, you are eligible to be hired. If the investigation yields unsatisfactory results, you are not eligible to participate in MCC’s college work study program.
  9. Once you are offered the position, you MUST visit the Financial Aid Office to complete the hiring process.
