Advanced Placement
For any of your testing needs, please contact the Testing Center at (254)299-8453. We are located on the 3rd floor of the Student Center.
Gain college hours while still in High School
- Take the Advanced Placement Course at your High School
- Take the Advanced Placement Final Examination in the subject of your choice
- Pass with the minimum passing score in the examination given in May of each year at participating High Schools
- Have your score report sent to participating colleges (MCC)
- Take the equivalent number of college hours at MCC in order to have the credits transcripted
- The college credit hours are not a part of the G.P.A.
- The college credit hours allow students to advance to the next course level in that subject area
- Students may receive up to 24 hours through Credit by Examination
Advanced Standing
- Advanced Standing may be accomplished for certain courses in English and Mathematics
- Acceptance is based on the basis of scores achieved on the ACT and SAT
- Students must make application for Advanced Standing in the Testing Services Center and proceed through the Program Director and Student Records Department
- Advanced Standing gives credit for a lower-level prerequisite course in the chosen subject area based on ACT and SAT scores
- Failure to gain approval for Advanced Standing may result in no credit for lower-level course work
- Advanced Standing may be attempted only one time in a given course
