ACT

McLennan Community College is a testing site for the ACT National Test. Student Registration Packets for the test are available in the Testing Center. All testing dates and deadline dates are located on the back of the ACT Registration Bulletin.

ACT Test Information

• General $29.00 testing fee
• Writing Option fee is $43.00
• Testing fees are payable to ACT at registration

Advanced Placement

Gain college hours while still in High School

• Take the Advanced Placement Course at your High School
• Take the Advanced Placement Final Examination in the subject of your choice
• Pass with the minimum passing score in the examination given in May of each year at participating High Schools
• Have your score report sent to participating colleges (MCC)
• Take the equivalent number of college hours at MCC in order to have the credits transcripted
• The college credit hours are not a part of the G.P.A.
• The college credit hours allow students to advance to the next course level in that subject area
• Students may receive up to 24 hours through Credit by Examination

Advanced Standing

• Advanced Standing may be accomplished for certain courses in English and Mathematics
• Acceptance is based on the basis of scores achieved on the ACT and SAT
• Students must make application for Advanced Standing in the Testing Services Center and proceed through the Program Director and Student Records Department
• Advanced Standing gives credit for a lower-level prerequisite course in the chosen subject area based on ACT and SAT scores
• Failure to gain approval for Advanced Standing may result in no credit for lower-level course work
• Advanced Standing may be attempted only one time in a given course

CAT Computer Adaptive Test (Nursing Graduates)

Contact the Nursing Department to schedule a CAT test.

CAT tests are usually given on Tuesdays at 8:30 am, 1:00 pm or 3:00 pm and on Fridays 8:30 am and 1:00 pm.

CLEP (College Credit By Examination)

College Level Examination Program can save you time and money. Registration forms and C.L.E.P. exams are available in the Testing Center.

CLEP Test Information

• a $15.00 fee payable to MCC. Fees are paid in the MCC Business Office, located in the AC Building
• a $65.00 fee, check or money order payable to C.L.E.P.
• all fees must be paid prior to testing

Correspondence Exams

We will proctor your Correspondence Exams. Just have your institutions to call and make arrangements.

LPN-GAP Test for Health Careers.

Test Information

• There is a $25.00 Testing Fee
• all fees must be paid in the MCC Business Office, located in the AC Building

NET (Nursing Entrance Test)

This Nursing Entrance Test is administered to LVN and ADN students who wish to enroll in either program at MCC. This test is also used for entrance into the B.S. Degree Program for nursing. MCC is affiliated with the Nursing Degree Program at the University of Texas at Arlington

SAT

McLennan Community College is a testing site for the SAT National Test. Student Registration Bulletins for the test are available in the Testing Center, Which is located on the 3rd floor of the Student Center. All testing dates and registration deadline dates are located on the back of the student registration bulletin.

THEA

The Texas Success Initiative is mandated by the Texas Legislature. The program is designed to ensure that all students attending public institutions of higher education in Texas have the necessary reading, mathematics and writing skills for college level work. All students entering public colleges and universities in the state of Texas including those with previous college hours, must take the THEA (Texas Higher Education Assessment) or an approved alternative test before enrolling at MCC unless otherwise exempt.

Test scores must be available before registration. Students who have not tested will not be permitted to register until scores are presented. The Texas Success Initiative allows for a number of exemptions.

There is a 30 day waiting period before retaking Quick THEA. Students who fail to make the minimum passing scores on Quick THEA must wait 30 days before they are allowed to retake the Quick THEA, or they may register to take the next available Standard THEA or Accuplacer.

Quick THEA

• $10 Administration Fee (Advanced Payment Required)
• $29.00 Testing Fee (Bring Payment on Test Day W/photo I. D.)
• A Basic 4 Function Calculator has been approved for Quick THEA testing by the National Evaluation System
• Test begins at 8:30 am

Standard THEA

• All registration information must be mailed to Austin or done on line at www.thea.nesinc.com to register for the Standard THEA test. Test dates and deadline dates or on the back cover of the Registration Bulletin.
• A Basic 4 Function Calculator has been approved for Standard THEA testing by the National Evaluation Systems.
• THEA registration bulletins are available in the Testing Center, located on the 3rd floor of the Student Center. Bulletins are also available at the Student Admissions counter and the Information counter, located in the Student Services.
