Diversity, Equity & Inclusion/Title IX

Division Mission Statement
In support of College Core Values, the division is committed to cultivating a culture where everyone believes they belong at McLennan Community College. We are dedicated to enriching our campus community by hosting year-round conversation, education and programming about diversity, equity and inclusion, advocating for systemic improvements, and strengthening community partnerships that promote an environment where everyone can successfully teach, learn and work together.
Division History
In October 2020, McLennan Community College took the significant step to implement the Division of Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion. This area is led by the Chief of Staff for Diversity, Equity & Inclusion/Title IX Coordinator, who provides oversight for the Counseling Center and the Office of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI). The Counseling Center’s mission is to provide psychological counseling and/or referral services to assist students in achieving academic success and personal development goals. The department follows a student-oriented philosophy, respectful of diversity, and is committed to the development of the student as a whole. The Counseling Center provides free, confidential, individual, and crisis counseling to currently enrolled MCC and University Center students.
The Office of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion’s mission statement is to endeavor to develop diversity, embrace equity, and incorporate inclusion as it strives to build a cohesive campus culture through targeted programming, educational opportunities, and community partnerships. The DEI team addresses compliance matters such as Title IX, student accommodations, student wellness (CARE Team), campus conduct, and of course plays a crucial role in keeping campus conversation about DEI matters alive and purposeful on campus. The department also includes TRiO Student Support Services and Upward Bound, and our Men of Color Success Initiative.
