Returning Student Grant

You can restart or start your education with a Returning Student Grant at MCC!

McLennan Community College is participating in the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board’s (THECB) Texas Reskilling Support Fund Grant Program, which MCC renamed the "Returning Student Grant." This program helps Texans affected by COVID-19, to gain new skills, certificates, and degrees needed to re-enter the workforce and to also support students that were unable to complete a certificate or degree to return to college.

The grant funds will support returning students and new students to complete a certificate or associate degree. Over 70 of the College’s programs are approved for the Grant, and eligible students will receive $500-$2500 per semester and can be enrolled either full or part time.

To be eligible, students may be either:

A returning college student who has not been enrolled in any college for at least 6-months or one long semester.
A new student who graduated from high school with at least a 6-month or one long semester gap between high school graduation and MCC enrollment.

Eligible students also must:

  • Be a Texas resident eligible for in-state tuition;
  • Have filed a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). This will determine eligibility for federal Title IV aid.;
  • Students enrolled in short-term non-eligible Title IV workforce credential programs, but who are otherwise Title IV eligible, may be included; and
  • Have affirmed they were affected by COVID-19.
