Edgar Sierra

Edgar Sierra, tenor, serves as Director of Opera and teaches applied voice and diction. A native of Waco, Texas, Mr. Sierra previously served as an adjunct instructor at McLennan Community College and has maintained a private voice studio in the Central Texas area.

In addition to his teaching responsibilities, Mr. Sierra has appeared as a soloist with the Central Texas Choral Society, the Waco Symphony, the McLennan Community Orchestra, and the Lubbock Chorale. His operatic performance experience includes roles such as Nemorino in L’elisir d’amore, Le Chevalier in Dialogues des Carmélites, and Tonio in The Daughter of the Regiment. He also performed the role of Kevin in the South African tour of Wading Home by Mary Alice Rich.

Mr. Sierra is actively engaged in community outreach, serving as an adjudicator for vocal competitions and presenting vocal masterclasses at area high schools.

An alum of McLennan Community College, Mr. Sierra holds a Bachelor of Music in Applied Voice and a Master of Music in Applied Voice from Baylor University. He is a member of the auditions team for the Dallas–Fort Worth chapter of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) and holds membership in the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS), Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA), Music Teachers National Association (MTNA), Texas Music Teachers Association (TMTA), and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia. He has previously served as the state vocal chair for the Student Affiliate contest for TMTA.
