Mandy Morrison

Dr. Mandy Morrison, Visual and Performing Arts Division Chair, has served as an Associate Professor of Music at MCC since 2018 and as an adjunct faculty member since 2006. She began teaching Music Appreciation online and Face-to-Face in 2007 and has effectively introduced classical music to large online student populations, including many dual-credit students. She has served as the assistant director and then director of McLennan Opera and continued community outreach by hosting performances for hundreds of local elementary school children on MCC’s campus. Dr. Morrison has taught voice lessons and collaboratively led travel courses to NYC, London, and Paris, exposing MCC students to some of the world's finest music, art, museums, and performance venues. She has also collaborated as a director and singer on many local productions and concerts. Her campus involvement includes serving on and leading numerous committees, primarily focusing on student success and retention. A native Wacoan, she graduated from Waco High School and attended MCC. Dr. Morrison holds a Bachelor of Music in Music Education and a Master of Music in Vocal Performance from the University of Arkansas and a Doctorate of Education in Organizational Leadership with an emphasis on Positive Leadership from Abilene Christian University, where she received the ACU Dallas Applied Research Center Excellence in Research Student Award. She was also awarded the Outstanding Dissertation Award for her dissertation, Leading Beyond the Lecture: A Case Study Exploring How Community College Students Experience Their Instructors’ Positive Leadership Strategies.
