Waco, Texas – McLennan Community College will host its Spring Commencement at 7:30 p.m., tomorrow, May 12, at Baylor University’s Ferrell Center. As the College celebrates its 60th anniversary, this year’s ceremony will recognize a record number of graduates. Dr. Tiffany Spicer, superintendent of Waco Independent School District, will provide the commencement address.
The ceremony will honor approximately 530 students, completing the required coursework for the Associate of Arts, Associate of Science, Associate of Applied Sciences, Associate of Arts in Teaching degrees, as well as Certificates of Completion.
Eighty-nine graduates are high school students earning an associate degree before receiving their high school diploma. Of those students, 36 are from Waco ISD, graduating with an associate degree before receiving their high school diploma. Other dual credit students are from Riesel, Rapoport, Moody, Midway, La Vega and Harmony School of Innovation.
“We are proud of the partnership we share with WISD and appreciative of Dr. Spicer’s leadership and commitment to student success,” said Johnette McKown. “Having her speak is especially meaningful as we celebrate the accomplishments of students who have benefited from that collaboration.”
