NCHC Mission

McLennan Honors College is a member of the National Collegiate Honors Council (NCHC), the professional association of undergraduate Honors programs and colleges; Honors directors and deans; and Honors faculty, staff, and students.

NCHC provides support for institutions and individuals developing, implementing, and expanding Honors education through curriculum development, program assessment, teaching innovation, national and international study opportunities, internships, service and leadership development, and mentored research. McLennan Honors College Scholars present papers at regional and national conferences.

McLennan Honors College Mission

  • To create a rich learning environment for students who are committed to excellence by offering courses, mentoring, campus support, and other educational pursuits with supportive faculty and in collaboration with equally committed students.
  • To provide opportunities for Honors Scholars to exercise their critical, analytical and creative talents, both independently and collaboratively, in pursuit of intellectual, social, cultural and aesthetic growth.
  • To create a community of scholars who develop leadership skills and engage with peers not only to gain a broader national and global perspective but also to exercise citizenship and demonstrate concern for social justice through local action.
