Advisor Guide

An advisor is assigned to you to help you be successful at MCC and achieve your academic goals. College is a new experience for most students and is different from high school or the workplace. Your advisor can help you make the transition so that you can get the most out of your time at MCC.

Important: Please be sure you have submitted all required documents (transcript(s), test scores, and shot record) before you meet with your advisor.

Academic Advisors are equipped to assist all student affinity groups, general studies, and undecided majors.  After meeting with an Advising Specialist, you may be assigned to an advising department based on your major. Learn more about program-specific advising departments below.

Non-Degree Seeking Students

Students attending other universities, both public and private, who wish to take classes at MCC during summer or winter terms are considered "Non-Degree Seeking" students. To be considered a Non-Degree Seeking student, you must have attended another college or university in the long semester immediately preceding the term in which you wish to attend MCC. These students do not  need to be advised by an MCC advisor to be able to register, as long as they have turned in their most recent college transcript and have taken any prerequisites required for classes they wish to take at MCC.
