Academic Fresh Start
Under the provisions of Senate Bill 365 and the Texas Education Code, Section 51.931, a Texas resident is entitled to apply for admission or re-admission to McLennan Community College and elect to have all academic coursework earned 10 or more years prior to the requested enrollment date ignored for admissions purposes. Resident status is determined by the same criteria used for tuition purposes.
Individuals who wish to apply for an Academic Fresh Start must meet current published admission criteria for McLennan Community College and must submit official records from all colleges attended. The Academic Fresh Start acknowledgement form must be submitted prior to enrollment, confirming the decision to enroll under the Fresh Start statute.
Course work (either from MCC or elsewhere) ignored for admission purposes will remain on the student's official MCC academic transcript. However, it will not be factored into the cumulative GPA, and it cannot be used to fulfill McLennan Community College degree or course prerequisite requirements. Academic Fresh Start does not impact federal financial aid calculations for satisfactory academic progress or veteran’s benefits.
