Dear Students,

What a year we all have had!  You have persevered through challenge after challenge, and you have not given up when the economic, educational, and even mental trials came.  The July 4 holiday brought a new beginning in many ways.  Watching the Washington, DC, celebration was reassuring that we can come together as a country and overcome the obstacles that continually threaten us.  You are the hope of all of our futures, and your investment in your education will pay dividends for you and your family.

With the improving COVID-19 situation, life on campus is returning to a more “normal” existence.  We are looking forward to the second summer term starting on Thursday, July 8 and also to the upcoming fall term on August 23.  I wanted to make sure you saw the news we shared a few weeks ago.  With the Federal funding provided through the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund, McLennan Community College will issue funds to registered students during the Summer I, Summer II, and Fall Terms for the amounts listed below:

Summer Terms

Type of Student Hours Enrolled Award Amount
Pell Eligible 9 hours or more $870
Pell Eligible Up to 8 hours $435
Not Pell Eligible 9 hours or more $500
Not Pell Eligible Up to 8 hours $250

 Fall Terms

Type of Student Hours Enrolled Award Amount
Pell Eligible 9 hours or more $1,500
Pell Eligible Up to 8 hours $750
Not Pell Eligible 9 hours or more $750
Not Pell Eligible Up to 8 hours $375

Funds will be sent automatically to students after the 4th class day during the Summer Terms and after the 12th class day during the Fall Term.  All enrolled students will receive an amount except for international students who must apply by contacting the Financial Aid Office.

Now is a perfect time to start or to continue your education, so I encourage you to contact the College beginning tomorrow, July 6.  If you are a current student, you should talk with your advisor and register for classes in WebAdvisor.  The Advising & Career Services webpage provides instructions if you wish to begin taking a look today.  New students can check out the Admissions webpage for instructions on how to become a student.

Finally, I am proud of the work you accomplished during this past COVID year.  If you didn’t accomplish your goals in the way you hoped, we can help.  If you want to attend Summer II that begins on Thursday, July 8, there is still time.  Hopefully, the money we are able to share with you will provided needed resources.  You can move forward in a positive way.  You absolutely can.
