Employee Message June 26

Good morning everyone,

With the rise in COVID 19 cases in McLennan County and the first positive case on campus, I know many of you have concerns.  By now, you probably have a friend or family member who has at least been exposed to someone who is positive, and this is scary.   It is especially alarming to have our first positive case on campus, and we have received questions about the identity of the positive case. For privacy reasons, this is information we cannot release, but we will continue to post all positive case announcements on the website.  If the Public Health District believes you were in direct contact with the person during the period in which the person was contagious, a representative from that office will contact you and let you know what to do.

The Emergency Operations Group (the Vice Presidents, Frank Patterson, Lisa Elliott, and I) are monitoring the situation on and off campus and are participating in discussions with local leaders and experts nearly every day.  We are meeting as a group multiple times a week, and we believe that the current status of the virus might mean that we will change or delay our return to campus plan.  This decision will be based upon the best information we have as we continue to view what is happening in our community and how to safely return.  I encourage you to review all of the updated information on our COVID 19 website and be follow all of our safety practices.  We are all together in this.
