Employee Message Mar 23

Dear Faculty and Staff,

You are being incredible troopers during the COVID-19 event, and the Leadership Team and I are very appreciative.    With new information, come new decisions.  The City of Waco has just issued a shelter in place order. The message is that all Waco residents should stay in their homes unless they are performing an “essential activity.” As an educational institution, McLennan Community College is exempted from this order which means:

  • Faculty and staff may still gain access to their buildings and offices if necessary.
  • Employees of the Physical Plant including Central Utilities, Custodial Services, Building Maintenance, and Ground Maintenance,  may work on campus if necessary.  The supervisors will provide guidance for this.
  • There are other areas with essential functions that must be performed from campus like mail, business office, human resources, technology, campus police, etc.  Again, supervisors will have guidance.  If you have questions about whether you should come to campus or not, please contact your supervisor.

Finally, we are encouraging all other employees to stay home unless it is necessary to go to campus in order to provide services to our students and/or other employees. I am appreciative of you.  Let’s stay safe as we practice social distancing when we are coming to campus.

Johnette McKown, President
