Student Update - May 4, 2020

The following message was sent to students on May 4, 2020.

Dear Students,

As a reminder, minimester, summer and  fall registration is underway, and it is time to meet (virtually) with your advisor. Please view this short video from Advising & Career Services. Our advisors are always available to help with career advice, registration, job preparation, and  transfer opportunities. You may contact them at advise@mclennan.edu or careers@mclennan.edu. We plan for our advisors to be available face-to-face on campus in late summer, but they are easily reached and eager to help you now virtually. Minimester and summer classes are all online, but we plan to offer them on campus as well as online in the fall.

Also, during this registration period, keep in mind the many opportunities available through our University Center. You really do not have to leave Waco to obtain your education. Our partners, Texas Tech University and Tarleton State University, make it easy to stay in Waco, or to transfer to their home sites in Lubbock or Stephenville. You may also choose Baylor and stay at MCC for one or two years first.  Outside of Waco, there are great choices like Texas A&M, University of North Texas, Texas State, and many others.

I know some of you may be nervous about what the summer and fall semesters might bring and about the COVID-19 virus. We are doing our best to ensure a safe environment for all. If you have COVID-19 questions about McLennan Community College, please email covid19@mclennan.edu. For the latest news and updates about our response to COVID-19, please visit our COVID-19 website.

You are important and your future is important.  We are here to help you navigate the challenges and to reach your goals. Good luck finishing strong in the spring semester, and stay safe! Please enjoy the video to learn more about our advisors.

Sincerely,

Johnette McKown
President, McLennan Community College
