As an investigative reporter, Lisa Ling has traveled all over the world.

Along with her duties as a correspondent for the National Geographic Channel, Ling was a special correspondent for "The Oprah Winfrey Show" and has contributed to CNN's "Planet in Peril" and ABC's "Nightline." She was a co-host on ABC's "The View" from 1999 to 2002 and was a reporter for "Channel One News," a news program for teens broadcast to schools across the country.

Ling also has her own series on the new channel OWN: the Oprah Winfrey Network called "Our America."

In two decades of reporting, Ling has become known for her in-depth coverage of issues that mainstream media tend to overlook. Her pursuit of these stories has taken her all over the world and has put her in extraordinary situations.

On her Web site, Ling has posted a mission statement that explains her passion for international reporting: "I want to raise consciousness about issues and stories that don't always make the headlines. I believe that global awareness makes a person smarter and ultimately more human."
