Brently Bartlett

Brently Bartlett is a music educator, oboist, and vocalist based in Waco, Texas. A Pennsylvania native, Brently moved to Texas in 2019 for his first public school teaching position at Waco High School. There, he holds the position of Head Choir Director and instructs the WHS Chorale, Chamber Choir, and Show Choir, while also acting as Music Director for the yearly musical on campus. His choirs enjoy collaborating with other artists and groups throughout the area and the district, most recently with the McLennan Community College Choirs. 

In 2019, Brently completed his Master of Music Education degree from Ohio University, with focuses in instrumental conducting, voice and vocal pedagogy, and musculoskeletal health of instrumental musicians. For his graduate studies at Ohio University, Brently was awarded two distinguished teaching assistantships through the School of Music: the Graduate Teaching Assistantship for Oboe Studies and the Graduate Teaching Assistantship for Music Education. Brently’s teaching experience at Ohio University includes: Instructor of Record for Introduction to Music Theory, Exploring Musical Styles, and Oboe Pedagogy for Music Education, and teaching assistant for Introduction to Music Education, Lab Band for Music Education, and Instrumental Methods and Techniques. 

Prior to his graduate studies at Ohio University, Brently completed his Bachelor of Science in Music Education and Bachelor of Arts in Music from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, where his primary instruments were oboe and English horn. Additionally, Brently received a minor in Fine Arts Entrepreneurship after the completion of an intensive internship with the Lively Arts of IUP. 

In his free time, Brently is the Principal Oboe of the Waco Community Band and McLennan Community Orchestra, and enjoys freelancing throughout Central Texas. Brently also enjoys traveling, writing, performing, acting, and spending time with his family and friends.
