Feb. 27, 2024

McLennan Community College is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Brandon Hill as the new dean of students. Bringing a wealth of experience and a proven track record of leadership in student development, Hill is set to play a pivotal role in enriching the MCC student experience and advancing MCC’s commitment to inclusiveness and excellence in higher education.

Hill comes to MCC from East Central University in Ada, Oklahoma, where he excelled as the vice president of student development since 2020. In this capacity, Hill led a comprehensive range of student services areas, including student conduct, residential life and housing, and student support services, to name a few. His previous tenure at Indiana Wesleyan University, as the vice president of life calling & integrative learning and chief student affairs officer, further solidifies his expertise in fostering academic and personal growth among students.

As a certified Strengths Finder coach and Strength Quest trainer, Hill's philosophical approach to education emphasizes the nurturance of individual strengths and the development of cohesive teams. His professional affiliations and leadership roles with the Oklahoma State Regents of Higher Education Council in Student Affairs, the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators, and the American College Personnel Association testify to his standing in the academic community.

MCC’s new dean of students will work with the Vice President of Instruction and Student Engagement, Dr. Fred Hills, to provide a coherent strategy and vision for all student support activities. Hill will provide strategic leadership and oversight for student engagement services including advising and career services, student life/activities, success coaching and early alert services, student resources, testing, C.A.R.E. team, TRiO Student Support Services, and counseling.

Hill is passionate about enhancing the educational landscape by implementation of policies and programs that are centered around student success, fostering a culture of collaborative shared governance, and strengthening the community through individual and team development initiatives.

“I am pleased to join other campus employees in welcoming Dr. Brandon Hill as the dean of students,” said MCC President Johnette McKown. “Dr. Hill brings great credentials and experience, which will be beneficial as this department is reimagined. His care about students is apparent, and I look forward to his leadership.”

Hill earned a doctorate of philosophy in higher education administration from Saint Louis University, a master of education in college student affairs from Azusa Pacific University, and a bachelor of science in accounting and management information systems from Greenville University.
